An argument over two cats escalated until an Iowa man reportedly shot the animals and dumped them in a trash bin.
Court records show Kevin Golly, 28, was charged with one count of felony domestic abuse and one count of felony animal torture November 11, 2013. Jail records confirm he was arrested on that same date.
The Ames Tribune reported Golly, and the woman with whom he lives, argued after one of their cats defecated on the woman’s bed. The argument reportedly escalated and Golly is accused of grabbing the woman’s hair and choking her.
After the fight, Golly allegedly shot both of their two cats and threw them in the trash. He reportedly shot both animals because he did not know which had defecated on the bed.
Jail records show Golly was held in the Story County jail in lieu of $15,000 cash or surety bond. He remained in custody November 13.
He was next scheduled to appear in court November 22.
