A 61-year-old man was hurt when he tried to help a woman attacked by several men who broke into her home.

Clinton Police said a 20-year-old woman told them four or five armed men broke into her McKinley Street home and put a gun to her head.

Police said when he heard the disturbance, the 61-year-old man armed himself and tried to help the woman.

“He was subsequently assaulted and his handgun was taken,” said a spokesman for the Clinton Police Department.

The injured man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries he suffered during the attack.

The intruders fled, and police did not indicate any of them had been caught yet.
