On Sunday, November 10, 2013 the Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild and the Quad City Botanical Center held a program featuring presentations by U.S. Grant and Lincoln actors and story tellers, and an exhibit showcasing quilts made of Civil War reproduction fabrics.

The exhibit is called A Place in Time. Member of the Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild, Clayton Peterson said it displays 21 quilts.

Terry Austin, the Quilts of Valor area representative said volunteers helped the organization make the quilts that were contributed to the display. She said 16 veterans received quilts of valor.

“I am just so honored to honor them for keeping us free,” she said. “If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be free today.”
