Wednesday night started typically enough for Jonna Carnes and her two daughters, ages 8 and 14.

"The girls and I were at Walmart," Carnes told News 8 Friday.

But what Carnes called "the unthinkable" was about to happen to her younger daughter.

"I noticed the guy right next to us-- I didn't think much of him," Carnes said. "I'd gone into the other aisle to find an easel and my little one runs up and says, "Mommy, mommy-- he spanked my butt! Why'd he spank my butt?!""

Police say surveillance video showed that convicted sex offender Randall Louis Green of Coal Valley inappropriately touched Carnes 8-year-old daughter.

That's when Carnes sprung into action.

"I ran after him and caught him at the exit," Carnes told News 8. "I told him, "You've got to stop-- you just touched my daughter's butt!" He didn't want to go-- no one was doing anything. Everyone around [had a] deer in a headlights look. So, I'm screaming, "You're a child molester-- you've touched by daughter's butt," so now everyone starts acknowledging that something happened."

Carnes says that Green willingly went with her to the Customer Service counter as police were called, but when she went back to get her daughters, Green ducked out, telling employees he was just going to have a cigarette.

Walmart did not immediately return News 8's call seeking comment.

Now, Carnes says she's worried Green might strike again.

"In his frame of mind, what else is he going to do?" she asked. "It's a last-ditch effort-- he's not of sound mind, obviously. It scares me to death."

Police Friday notified News 8 that investigators still believe Green's in the Quad Cities and ask anyone with any information to contact Crimestoppers of the Quad Cities at (309) 762-9500.

As they wait for Green to be arrested, Carnes is left to try and comfort her daughter.
"[It's] scary for a little girl," she said. "My daughter was crying this morning-- she didn't want to leave the house. We have to live with this."
