A local man will serve 20 years in prison after he was busted for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine in Davenport, Iowa.

A local man will serve 20 years in prison after he was busted for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine in Davenport, Iowa.

McFerry Tolbert Jr., 30, of Davenport, was sentenced in federal court Wednesday, November 6, 2013.

Prosecutors said between June and November 2012, Tolbert bought and conspired to deal crack in the Davenport area.  Police made several controlled purchases from Tolbert in October and November 2012 as part of their investigation.

When police searched Tolbert’s Davenport home, they found cocaine base (also known as “crack”) and a digital scale.  Police said Tolbert had 14 individually-packaged crack rocks on him when he was arrested.

Tolbert was convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine base and possession with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base.

Tolbert was sentenced to 240 months in prison plus five years of supervised release following his prison term.  He was also ordered to pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund.
