Millions tuned into the Country Music Association Awards to watch their favorite country artists win.

At one local radio station, they tuned in to watch their station take a home an award, but their night didn't go as planned.

It's the night WLLR country radio station in Davenport has been waiting for: the 2013 CMA Awards.

"I know for certain that I'm probably going to cry and freak out and scream when I see it, but it's a really big honor," said WLLR radio personality Jillene Khan.

The station got a call from the country group The Band Perry that the station won the 2013 Small Market Station of the Year.

"It's so exciting, just to be nominated and recognized is an honor, but to actually win and be able to bring the CMA home, it's really like no other feeling," said Khan.

But their exciting night didn't go as planned.  Their radio operations manager was on his way to Nashville, but because of a delayed flight, he wasn't able to be there to accept the award.

"If you've ever traveled on a plane, things can happen and things happened today, so he unfortunately didn't make it for the award ceremony," said Khan.

Even though someone from the station wasn't there to accept the award, it will still be sent to them, which the station says wouldn't be possible without their listeners.

"We're just proud, we have the best listeners and we're just really excited to really bring this home for them because they're the reason that we're here," said Khan.

WLLR was nominated for the award last year, but didn't win.  The other winner was a station in Providence, Rhode Island.
