Iowa City residents will vote on whether or not they feel the legal age to enter a bar should continue to be 21-years-old and up.
According to the website for Johnson County, Iowa, when residents vote in their City Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 they will have the chance to vote on whether a recent “bar entry age” ordinance for Iowa City should be repealed.
Before the amendment, 19 and 20-year-olds were allowed to be present in a bar after 10 p.m. but it was changed to 21 and up only.
WHO reported that in the past, bar owners have petitioned the ordinance, asking for 19 and 20-year-olds to be allowed in after 10 p.m. as well.
Under-agers who are caught in a bar after 10 p.m. could face a fine of up to $300, according to WHO.
