A North Dakota woman says she will hand out letters, not candy, to trick-or-treaters she thinks are obese.
“Cheryl” called in to radio station Y-94 Tuesday morning, October 29, 2013, and said she would tell parents, in that letter, that it is “irresponsible” to allow obese children to trick-or-treat.
“I just want to send a message to the parents of kids that are really overweight…I think it’s really irresponsible of parents to send them out looking for free candy just because all the other kids are doing it,” Cheryl said.
Cheryl planned to put the letters in sealed envelopes with instructions to give the envelope to their parents.
Part of the letter says, “You(r) child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar and treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season.”
“I don’t want to be the mean lady,” Cheryl said in the radio interview. “I want the all the kids to still appreciate that I care about them.”
“I just feel like parents should take more responsibility for their kids who are becoming little fat kids,” Cheryl said.
