Quad Citians rappelled down the Hotel Blackhawk wall Wednesday, October 30, 2013, and it is all for a good cause.
The second annual Over the Edge Quad Cities event took place Wednesday. People rappelled down the south wall while being harnessed. They ended up on Third Street in downtown Davenport.
Last year, North Scott teacher Jennifer Unwin went down the wall for her special needs class. To participate, each person raised at least $750 for Special Olympics Illinois and Special Olympics Iowa.
President and CEO of Special Olympics Iowa, Hal Pittman said they were looking to raise over $30,000 from the event for Special Olympics Iowa and Illinois. He said they were also trying to raise awareness of the organization.
Hotel Blackhawk is a 131 foot high, 11 story building.
