Police: Stabbing suspect released when victim refused to cooperate

Police say the suspect, who allegedly stabbed a man in Davenport, was released because the victim would not cooperate with investigators.

One person reportedly suffered a stab wound during an altercation in Davenport.

Police were called to an alley along West 8th Street near N. Gaines around 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013.  Unconfirmed initial reports indicated a person was stabbed in the upper back.

Police later said the victim was found when he approached someone and asked them for help.

Crime scene investigators worked to find evidence several blocks away from where the victim was found.  They combed the streets and manholes in the area along N. Gaines near 14th and 15th streets.

Police said the stabbing happened in the 1100 block of Brown Street.

The suspect from the incident was found at about 7 p.m. the same day.  Detectives said the suspect was released, however, because the victim refused to cooperate with investigators.

Police said the victim's injuries were not life-threatening.
