Davenport's Soccer League is celebrating the life of David Harker and helping his family at the same time.

The league held a benefit at Rivals Sports Bar on Sunday, October 27th, 2013. They accepted donations and sold food to raise money for Harker's wife and children.

Harker served as captain for one of the league's soccer teams and organizers say he was like family to the players.

"I just want to thank everyone that's been apart of this and hopefully we can get some good money," said Mark Hamilton, who organized the benefit. "David has a family that's left behind so we'd love to help as much as we can."

Harker was last seen alive on September 29th when he never came home after leaving a bar in Moline. Search crews later found his body in the Mississippi River.

The soccer league says they plan to hold a tribute to Harker at the River's Edge in Davenport during their games from now on.
