A unique event in Sterling, Illinois is "tackling" breast cancer.

Women's flag football teams participated in Touchdowns for Ta-Tas on Saturday, October 26th, 2013.

Members of the Northern Illinois Youth Tackle Football (NIYTF) Program organized the inaugural event to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.

"Our community has really come together to try and help find a cure for this disease that's taken so many people, especially in our area," says Organizer Melissa Ryan. "We've all been inspired by people whose lives have been taken and we've also been inspired by those who continue to fight."

Organizers tell News 8 that they raised more than $25,000. Donations from the event will go to Home of Hope Cancer Wellness Center in Dixon, Illinois.
