The Q.C.A. Adaptive Sports Association hosted the 1st Iowa Wheelchair Tennis Tournament in the Quad Cities this weekend.

The competition was held at Life Fitness Center in Bettendorf on Saturday, October 26th, 2013.

Athletes came as far away as Nebraska and Indiana just to participate. Players could compete by themselves in singles or in doubles with an able-bodied teammate.

Organizers say they only offer activities for adults right now, but they may expand to younger players in the future.

"If junior individuals are interested and the participation is there, we would definitely like to have junior teams in basketball or tennis, whichever sport that is most popular," says Robert Juarez with the Q.C.A. Adaptive Sports Association.

Juarez also said they hope to hold the tennis tournament again in the future.
