The Loop service ending for the season

Saturday, October 26 will be the last day residents will have access to the Loop, as it closes for winter.

Quad Citians who use the Loop for transportation will have to adjust their travels.

The last day of the Loop’s regular service for the season will be Saturday, October 26, 2013, according to the Loop’s website. Service will resume on Friday, May 2, 2014.

The Iowa Quad-Cities transit coordinator with the Bi-State Regional Commission said that the Loop will run on major holidays like New Year’s Eve and a weekend day around St. Patrick's Day during the winter months.

The transit coordinator also said that to maximize funds and better serve riders, the Loop extended hours on Friday and Saturday, added a fourth bus, and cut Thursday and Sunday. The service is not offered in the cold winter months because that is when ridership has generally been at its lowest.

The break in service affects the Metro in Rock Island and the transit system in Bettendorf. The CitiBus in Davenport runs all year.
