The Dixon, Illinois City Council has chosen a Rockford man with Quad Cities-area ties to become Dixon’s first city administrator.
“The City is expected to hire David Nord, of Rockford,” according to a statement from Dixon Police Chief Danny Langloss Jr.
“Nord was made a conditional offer of employment by the City contingent on passing a comprehensive background investigation and a community ‘Meet and Greet.’ Nord has successfully completed the background investigation,” Langloss said.
Dixon citizens will have a chance to meet Nord, review the tentative agreement between Nord and the city and to contact elected officials with citizen opinions prior to the final vote on his selection. The contract was expected to be placed on file for public review for seven days in early November.
Langloss said Nord was interviewed twice and he participated in a “finalist day” involving meetings with city employees, department heads and elected officials.
Nord was City Administrator for Cherry Valley, Illinois for 25 years. He is involved with the Illinois City/County Management Association as a past-president and as a continuing member of the association’s Ethics Committee. In the mid 1980s, Nord worked for the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service in Cambridge and as a Residence Hall Director at Augustana College.
