Police: Thieves hit department stores in Sterling

Sterling Police say they are searching for two men accused of stealing from department stores there.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the men that police say stole items from Kohl’s at 3220 East Lynn Boulevard and from Wal-Mart Supercenter at 4115 East Lincolnway on Saturday, September 21, 2013.

In both cases, the men reportedly left the stores in an older model gray pickup truck.

One of the men is “medium height and build” according to police.  He wore a tan coat and a White Sox baseball cap with a sticker on the bill.

The other suspect is heavy set.  He wore tan pants and a Yankees jacket at one of the stores, and tan pants with a Chicago Bulls sweatshirt at the other store.

Anyone who can help identify the suspects is asked to call Sterling Police at (815) 632-6640, email police at tipline@sterling-il.gov, or call Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at (815) 625-7867.
