The Rock Island-Milan School District could decide the fate of the Audubon School at its board meeting Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013.

The school district has looked for somebody to buy the building for almost a year now. In late September, school workers showed off to the building the media in a private meeting. The four options on the table are shutting off all utilities, repairing the boiler, demolishing the building, or accepting a purchase offer.

The boiler inside the school doesn't work anymore. It could cost the district $30,000 to fix. The district had an offer from Fareway Grocery Stores to buy the building, but the group pulled out in July.

Joe Lemon Jr. also said he was interested in buying the building, but he never turned in his purchasing agreement. In late September, school district workers said they had no interested parties in purchasing it.

Tuesday's board meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Rock Island High School. The Audubon School has been vacant for more than three years.
