Over 200 pounds of marijuana was seized from the car of a California man who was pulled over for speeding near Atkinson, police say.
According to the Illinois State Police, 57-year-old David Labarre was traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 near Atkinson when he was pulled over for speeding around 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. A State Police K-9 alerted to the vehicle, causing a search where police revealed 242 pounds of marijuana.
Police say Labarre was arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail. He is facing charges of cannabis trafficking and possession with intent to deliver.
