A new face is taking charge at the Davenport Center for Active Seniors Inc. (CASI).
According to the center’s Marketing Coordinator, Sarah Arp, CASI’s Board of Directors have announced Laura Kopp as the new Chief Executive Officer.
Kopp has been in the Quad Cities for about a decade. She moved from south Florida with her husband, Dr. Steve Kopp, who grew up in Davenport.
The new CEO said her goal has always been to be part of a “strong and vibrant community” to raise her family.
“Through my work with abused children, troubled youth and adults with significant disabilities, I feel I have laid some of that groundwork,” Kopp said. “Joining CASI at a time when the demographics of the Quad Cities demand a more comprehensive set of services for our seniors will be the realization of a lifelong dream for me.”
Board Chair Gwen Tombergs said as senior services change, CASI needed someone who can bring the center in the appropriate direction.
“Laura brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm which will serve CASI and its clientele,” Tombergs said.
Coming from a position as the Vice President of Programs with Goodwill, Kopp oversaw 23 rehab programs in 19 counties. She has also served as the Director of Clinical Services for Family Resources, Inc., and was the Director of Children’s Trauma Services with the Child Abuse Council.
The Southern Illinois University graduate was recognized as one of the QC Area Leaders Under 40 by Blackhawk College in 2007.
