In an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer people decorated a bridge, in an unusual way.
In October of 2013, during National Breast Cancer Awareness month, bras were hung on the Hennepin Canal Bridge in Tampico to raise awareness of the fight against the disease. The bras are decorated to honor loved ones who have fought breast cancer.
“Everybody really pulls together around here in supporting each other,” said Tampico resident, Jessica Todd. “A lot of women around here have had breast cancer and it’s just heartbreaking.”
According to the Breast Cancer Facts & Figures published by the American Cancer Society, an estimated 232,340 U.S. women were expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013.
