A group of congregations came together to package meals for hungry people.

On Saturday, October 12, 2013 over 100 people from four church congregations located in Davenport gathered with the same goal in mind- to feed the hungry. Volunteers came to Trinity Lutheran School to help with the Kids Against Hunger event.

“That’s what God tells us to do,” said Gary Bades from Trinity Lutheran Church. “He tells us to feed the hungry and we’re trying to follow what God tells us to do.”

Bades said they were able to raise about $8,650 to package and send 35,000 meals. Meals they packaged will be sent both locally and abroad to Honduras, Nicaragua, and Haiti.

“It takes a tremendous effort from a lot of people to pull this off,” said Bades.

Volunteers from Trinity Lutheran, Risen Christ, Holy Cross, and Immanuel were present. Together, they created eight assembly lines filling and preparing food bags.
