Clinton Police said they identified a teenaged suspect after a surveillance camera captured video of headstones being damaged at Springdale Cemetery.

Property managers at the cemetery said numerous headstones were damaged, tipped over or destroyed.  The vandalism all happened in the last month, according to information shared by the Clinton Police Department on Tuesday, October 8, 2013.

Police also shared a portion of video captured by a surveillance camera at the cemetery, showing someone damaging one of the headstones.   Police say that video helped them identify a suspect.

"Police cited Steven Dickens, age 17, of Clinton, October 9, 2013, for criminal mischief in the first degree," said a statement from criminal investigations commander Captain Tom Bohle.

The cost to repair and replace the damaged grave markers was estimated at more than $10,000.
