Safe Kids Quad Cities held its annual Walk to School Day Parade Wednesday morning, October 9, 2013.

Safe Kids Quad Cities held the event at Washington Elementary School at 41st in Moline. Parents walked to school with their children to look at unsafe intersections, streets that need repairs, and areas where a student could get hit. The event is all part of International Walk to School Day. Moline Fire Fighters and EMS also helped raise awareness Wednesday.

More than 60 children are injured every single day while walking to school. More than 500 children are killed every single year. Organizers say it's very important to make sure drivers know of the numbers.

This is the 14th year that Safe Kids Quad Cities has held an event. Next year, they'll hold one on the Iowa side of the river. Click here to learn safety tips on numerous activities.
