An eight-year-old girl was reportedly nearly abducted from a New Hartford, Iowa street in the middle of the day.
The attempt was reported Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2013.
KWWL reports the girl was outside of a hair salon near city hall at about 2 p.m. when a man driving a black van approached her. The man reportedly told the girl there was a family emergency and that she needed to get into the van so he could take her to her mom.
That’s when the girl ran away from the van and into the hair salon.
The van was black with “lots of windows,” according to police. The driver was described as an older man with a gray beard and mustache and wearing a farmer’s cap. He was also reportedly smoking at the time of the incident.
