It may only be October, but Santa Claus visited the Quad Cities today.

Santa was among hundreds who rode in the Toys For Tots Motorcycle Run on Sunday, October 6th, 2013 in Davenport.

"[There are] a lot of toys and a lot of bikes," says Jeff Hoker, Coordinator for ABATE of Iowa, District 15. "We always hope to have 400 or 500 and I think we're going to make that mark this year pretty easily."

Organized by ABATE of Iowa, the 29th annual event is the official kick-off to the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys For Tots Program, which collects Christmas presents for children who are less fortunate in our communities.

"This is a big event for us," says Hoker. "We like to help out the kids and, of course, the Marine Corps and it's gotten to be a tradition for us to do this and so we look forward to this every year."

Motorcyclists started at Walmart on W. Kimberly Road in Davenport and rode through Davenport to Hobby Lobby on Old Kimberly Road. To participate in the ride, Hoker say all you had to have was a toy to donate.
