A local aluminum manufacturing facility opened its doors to area leaders and potential employees.

On Friday, October 4, 2013, Alcoa’s Davenport facility opened its doors to students and business leaders in the community for Manufacturing Day.

Manufacturing Day was a way for Alcoa to demonstrate how education applies to real-world settings. They day was used as an encouragement to young people considering career options and moving forward in their education and career paths.

“As we’re working with the community, this is where we get some of the employees for the future so it’s important that we show them the kinds of jobs we have and invest in education and careers in the community so they can become our future employees,” said Manufacturing Director, Rob Woodall.

Students had the chance to look at Alcoa’s $300,000 expansion. The development is expected to be completed by the end of 2013, ready for production in 2014.
