Bellies fill with pie at Annawan fall festival

An annual fall festival aimed at raising money for the community included entertainment for the whole family, including a speedy pie-eating contest.

Things got a little messy at an annual fall celebration in Annawan.

On Saturday, October 5, 2013 the Annawan community held the Fall into Annawan festival for the second year. Among other events made to cater to all ages, some participated in a Pumpkin Pie-Eating Contest.

According to Annawan resident and board member, Denelle Anderson, the festival was put-on with future generations in mind.

“We have a young community,” said Anderson. “It’s important to get everyone together.”

Anderson said money raised at the festival will go toward the town’s community center.

Other events families enjoyed were a mini-triathlon and 5k, an obstacle mud run, a chili cook-off, a live band, games, and a $10,000 raffle.
