The Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging will hold a meeting for medicare beneficiaries Friday, October 4, 2013.

Workers from the Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) will be in attendance. They'll discuss how a senior's medicare plan is changing due to the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare.

The meeting comes just three days after the open enrollment period started for Obamacare. According to the AARP, those that earn more than $85,000 could start to pay more for prescriptions under Medicare. Most others however, will start to see their prescription prices decrease.

If you're on Medicare, you do not have to get new health insurance because of Obamacare.  However, you can change your plans if you'd like. In Illinois, go to this website. If you live in Iowa, go to this website.

Friday's meeting starts at 9 a.m. at the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging. The building is located at 8th Street and 34th Avenue in Rock Island.
