Genesis to open facility and wellness park in Moline

Genesis plans to open a health care office and wellness park that is “the first of its kind in the region.”

According to a spokesperson from Genesis, the health care office, Genesis HealthPlex, will include a medical office building and a wellness park. The facility is scheduled to be open to patients on Monday, November 4, 2013.

The building will be a modern 52,000-square-foot facility. Located in Moline, the HealthPlex will house offices for nine primary care physicians, Genesis Convenient Care, Genesis Integrative Wellness and ancillary services including pharmacy and radiology. The facility will also include plastic surgery and ear, nose, and throat practices.

Along with the facility will be a wellness park which will include a half-mile exercise path, exercise stations and green spaces. Electric vehicle charging stations will also be on site. Genesis acquired the property from a family who used to farm the land in the late 1800s. For nearly two decades around 1950 the land served as a dump for the City of Moline.

According to a spokesperson from Genesis, the health service worked with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency to restore the land and cleared the way for redevelopment.

The CEO and President of Genesis Health System, Doug Cropper, said the HealthPlex will cater to the changing needs of patients.

“As we evaluated the Genesis mission and our strategies for achieving this goal, we have determined that we need both a greater presence and a more centrally located presence for outpatient services,” Cropper said.
