Residents of one Rock Island neighborhood said they were stranded when a water main break created a huge hole in their street.
The break was reported around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 on Ridgewood Road at Partridge Circle in Rock Island.
One resident said she couldn't leave because the break was in the street at the end of her driveway. A neighbor said she drove through her own front yard to get out.
Rock Island Public Works crews estimated the break caused a 15-by-15-foot hole in the street.
Ridgewood Road was closed to traffic. Crews expected to reopen part of the road to local traffic later Thursday.
The location is residential.
