Crash knocks out power in Davenport neighborhood

A wreck involving a recycling truck knocked out electricity to about 175 customers in northwest Davenport, Iowa.

The wreck was reported around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 at West 35th and Thornwood.

A city recycling truck reportedly struck overhead power lines and downed at least one power pole.

Neighbors said they heard a loud “boom” sound at the time of the crash.

The driver of the truck was reportedly out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived.

No injuries were reported.
