Davenport city leaders will hold a public hearing on a request to re-zone the old K's Merchandise building.

The building has sat vacant since 2006. It is located at the corner of Marquette and Kimberly.

Developers are looking to make the building a warehouse and distribution site. Centennial Contractors bought the 80,000 sq. foot building for $850,000. Developers would also like to put a few commercial tenants in the building.

Neighbors are concerned about traffic, noise, and their property values dropping. City council documents show 11 protests to the development.

Davenport city leaders need six votes Wednesday night, October 2nd, 2013, to recommend the rezoning request. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. Nothing will be finalized Wednesday.
