Rock Island's Broadway Historic District is celebrating its 25th anniversary this weekend.
On Saturday, September 28th, 2013, the community held a free public party that included tours of the neighborhood's historic homes, plus an antique car and tractor show.
Residents say for them, this milestone represents rebirth, regrowth, and community.
"Rock Island is wonderful because it has a lot of different neighborhoods," says Barb Braun, President of the Historic District Association. "Broadway was the first official neighborhood association to form 25 years ago and it set the standard that led other neighborhoods to follow suit."
A partial unveiling also took place at today's party. The siding from a historic home was removed to reveal its historic clapboard.
