The packaging company Material Control Systems, or MATCON, is building an $11 million warehouse in East Moline.

MATCON is a company originally from Port Byron. Their project is located next to the Jacobs Sports Park in East Moline. Construction on the 100,000 square foot facility is already underway.

East Moline alderman approved rezoning the property back in September of 2012. According to the Rock Island Argus Dispatch, the county board cancelled property taxes on the building for the project's first year. The county also is reducing property taxes on the company for the next five years.

The project could bring as many as 150 jobs to East Moline. Officials say the company could expand more in the future.

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will be at the site around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The site is near 4th Avenue and 36th Street.
