A local medical center says they are changing their name, but not who they are.
Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, is being renamed Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, according to a spokesperson from the health center.
The vice president of communications and business development, Ken Croken, said the facility is being renamed to create uniformity within Genesis. He said the new name adds a locator point for the convenience of patients and visitors.
“We’ll have better consistency in naming our hospitals and by rebranding as Genesis Medical Center, Silvis,” said Croken. “We are following the same guidelines used in naming Genesis Medical Center, Aledo and Genesis Medical Center , DeWitt.”
“It’s a small change. It doesn’t change who we are,” said Flo Spyrow, president of Genesis Medical Center, Silvis. “There is a legacy of 40 years of serving the region and that won’t change.”
The campus includes a 150-bed hospital, the Larson Center office building, and senior living and rehabilitation facilities.
