A group in Davenport spent the afternoon on a bar crawl for their love of animals.

On Sunday, September 22, 2013 the Humane Society of Scott County held its first Dog Day Afternoon Bar Crawl. The group crawled to Great River Brewery, Dam View, and Blackhawk Bowl and Martini Lounge. Proceeds benefited the humane society.

“It’s a shelter environment which is not a place for them,” said Teresa Jones, Manager of the Animal Humane Society. “We all want a place to be and that’s really all they want. They want a place to belong, a place that’s their home and a place where they can love and love unconditionally.”

Organizers said the purpose of the crawl was to bring awareness to their animals that are eligible to be adopted. Participants had the chance to win raffle prizes and enjoy appetizers and music.
