Teen falls 40 feet from Maquoketa Caves bluff

An Illinois teenager visiting Maquoketa Caves State Park fell from one of the bluffs.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, September 21, 2013, a 14-year-old boy was airlifted to an area hospital after he fell 40 feet from a bluff at the park. The incident occurred around 11 a.m.

A spokesperson from the sheriff’s office said assisting them was the Maquoketa Fire & Rescue, Jackson County Regional Health Center Ambulance and the Iowa DNR.
