Deputies have charged a Taylor Ridge man with two felonies after a pair of malnourished horses were rescued from his farm.

Tuesday, two horses were taken to Schone’s Friendship Farm in Milan, Illinois, which serves as a foster home for horses. Each horse was 200 to 300 pounds underweight.

Larry Garrett now faces charges of cruelty to animals and an animal owner duties violation, both Class 4 felonies according to court records. He was arrested Wednesday, September 18, 2013, and released on $5,000 bond.

In 2012, Garrett was charged with misdemeanors after nearly 20 severely underweight horses were taken from his Taylor Ridge farm.

Garrett was allowed to keep two horses after the citation, both of which were taken from him Tuesday.

Trainers at Schone’s say the rescued horses are doing well and will hopefully be adopted out.
