A Davenport woman was arrested in connection with the theft of a box of donated money from the counter of a Bettendorf restaurant.

Police said two women worked together to distract a store manager and take the box of cash from the counter of Hardee’s, 1930 State Street on Thursday, August 15, 2013.  Surveillance cameras captured photos of the theft as it happened.

An estimated $50 was in the stolen box.

Bettendorf Police said Aquilla Lee Walker, 25, of Davenport was arrested Wednesday, September 18 in connection with the theft.  Police said Lee was already in the Scott County Jail on unrelated charges.

Jail records show Lee was charged with one count of misdemeanor third-degree burglary.  She was held in lieu of $2,000 cash-only bond.

Police said charges were pending against a second woman in connection with the theft.

The stolen money was not recovered.
