The American Red Cross of the Quad Cities Area is sending two volunteers to Colorado.

Mary Johnson of Geneseo and Liz Hungerford of Moline left for Colorado Monday morning. They left from the American Red Cross building in Moline around 10 a.m.

The volunteers left in an emergency response vehicle. The Red Cross is working with the Colorado National Guard to help find shelters for thousands of people stranded from the flooding. Monday alone, 15 National Guard members and other first responders were stranded due to the flooding.

The Red Cross is helping out with blankets, cots, and meals for the people affected. The volunteers will be there for the next two or three weeks.
