A group of motorcyclists from all over the country rode to Washington D.C. to commemorate 9/11.
As a tribute to those who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist attacks, the group called 2 Million Bikers to D.C. rode to the nation’s capital beginning on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.
Bikers from all over the country came to support the rally, which according to the Washington Times, secondly served to protest another demonstration by the American Muslim Political Action Committee.
The American Muslim Political Action Committee organized a demonstration called Million American March Against Fear, which was changed from the Million Muslim March back in February, according to US News. Organizer, Isa Hodge said a presentation was planned to address the rights and events that affect American liberties.
Cornel West, a Princeton University professor, spoke at the rally about social justice for Muslims while promoting peace and denouncing violence, according to the Washington Times.
Demonstrators with the 2 Million Bikers group said the committee’s rally was an insult to those who died on September 11, 2001, reported the Washington Times.
“They picked the wrong day to do it,” said Kelly Volb, a 42-year-old Pennsylvania woman who attended the ride. “This is to remember everyone who perished on 9/11, out of respect to them.”
A Facebook account was set up for the 2 Million Bikers to D.C. with the progress and well-wishes to other participants.
