Stay out of Syria. That was the message from dozens of protesters in Davenport on Sunday, September 8, 2013.

Protesters holding signs gathered at Vander Veer Botanical Park to send their message to others in the area and across the country. President Obama is trying to convince lawmakers and the public, that the Assad regime must be punished for launching chemical weapons on its open people.

But protesters say, the United States should not intervene.

"One, what good are our missile strikes gonna do? And two, it's just another possibility of complications of getting us into another war depending on what the neighboring countries do," said one of the protesters.

Congress returns to Capitol Hill on Monday. Meanwhile, President Obama will start the work week by sitting down with network news anchors for interviews before his prime-time address on Tuesday aimed at persuading the American public.
