A motorcyclist died after a crash at an intersection in Sterling on Sunday, September 8, 2013.

A motorcyclist died after colliding with a vehicle at an intersection in Sterling.

According to the Sterling Police Department, on Sunday, September 8, 2013 around 11 a.m., a 20-year-old motorcyclist died after a collision with a 78-year-old driver at an intersection.

Police said 78-year-old man was westbound in the left turn lane of E. Lincolnway, turning left onto 45th Ave. The motorcyclist was heading eastbound when the two collided.

The motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital before being airlifted to another facility where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Officials said the 78-year-old man and a passenger in his vehicle were both unharmed.

Police said the intersection was partially closed to traffic and was reopened roughly three hours after the crash.

No citations have been issued.
