State House Rep. Mike Smiddy says a deal has been brokered between the Illinois Department of Employment Security and the Quad City Federation of Labor. The two sides met in a private meeting Friday morning.

The two sides met at State Senator Mike Jacob's office in Moline at 11 a.m., according to Smiddy. Smiddy and Jacobs were also on hand for the meeting. The deal will allow for workers to file for unemployment benefits on paper at the new office, if they cannot file them online.

As reported Friday, the IDES has moved its office right around the corner in the same building of 500 42nd Street. IDES is now operating out of Suite 4. That's the same space that the Rock Island Partners in Job Training and Placement Board uses.

The IDES, AFSCME Local 2615, and the Quad City Federation of Labor made the announcement Sunday. The IDES will keep paper applications because of the large number of federal employees in the Quad Cities.
