After two boys drowned in a river near their home, a community is coming together to support their family.

Rural New Boston brothers, Nic Bullock, age 9, and Jesse Bullock, age 12, drowned in the Edwards River in July of 2013. On Saturday, September 7, 2013 a benefit is being held to honor the boys memories and to raise money for funeral costs and headstones.

Jesse Bullock, the boys’ father, said the family doesn’t have a way to pay for his sons’ burials and he appreciates the help the community is offering.

“The support has been great so far,” Bullock said. “We can’t thank everybody enough.”

The benefit will be held at Fish Fry Park in New Boston from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.

All are welcome to come for food music, and events like a volleyball, pool, horseshoe, and bags tournaments, a motorcycle run, a cake walk and more.

Donations for the Bullock family are being accepted at Joy State Bank.
