Bettendorf school board candidates will be a part of a public forum Thursday night.

Residents in the Bettendorf Community School District will vote on three new school board members Tuesday, September 10th. Residents will also be asked to vote on a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, or PPEL, Tuesday too.

The levy will ask residents whether they want to keep the PPEL at $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. The timetable for nine different projects in the school district will be impacted if the levy fails.

The district plans to renovate Bettendorf Middle School's cafeteria. That is their top construction project over the next 10 years.

Superintendent Theron Schutte says the district won't have to make budge cuts if the levy doesn't pass. The school board candidates will discuss their plans at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bettendorf High school.

Davenport parents will also be voting on new school board candidates September 10th. Polls are open in Scott County from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
