The father of a 2-year-old who was left home alone when the family’s house caught fire has been charged.

The father of a 2-year-old who was left home alone when the family's house caught fire has been charged.

According to a spokesperson from the City of Davenport, 21-year-old Edgar Mendoza, was charged with child endangerment with bodily injury, a class D felony.

On Friday, August 30, 2013, a toddler was home alone when a fire erupted at his family's Davenport home.  Firefighters pulled the child from a second-story window.

According to Davenport Fire Marshall Mike Hayman, the child’s parents left him home alone, sleeping on a couch while the father took the boy’s mother to work.

Hayman said the parents left the stove on when they left, which sparked the fire.
