Chobani recalls Greek yogurt

Chobani is voluntarily recalling Greek yogurt cups as the company continues to try to identify how mold got into some of the product made in Idaho.

Chobani is voluntarily recalling Greek yogurt cups as the company continues to try to identify how mold got into some of the product made in Idaho.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed the voluntary recall September 5, 2013, saying the company was investigating "reports of product bloating and swelling and some claims of illness" from consumers.

"We recently identified mold in a limited amount of product that came from our Idaho facility," said a statement on the Chobani website.

The company has voluntarily asked retailers to pull potentially affected Chobani items from store shelves.

Various sizes of Chobani Greek yogurt containers with four-digit best-by date codes of September 11, 2013 and October 7-2013 were included in the recall.  The recall involves nearly 100 different sizes and flavors of Chobani Greek yogurt.  The recall includes all flavors of six-ounce cups, 16-ounce tubs, 32-ounce tubs, 3.5-ounce cups, Chobani Bite, chobani Flip, and Chobani Champions cups and tubes.
