A teenager living in foster care is accused of killing a five-year-old who lived in the same Iowa foster home.
The body of five-year-old Dominic Elkin was found Saturday, August 31, 2013 near a home in Logan, Iowa.
Our sister station WHO-TV reports a family member said 17-year-old Cody Metzker-Madsen explained blood on his clothing by saying Dominic had hit him, and that Dominic had run off.
Metzker-Madsen then led family members to a ravine where they found Dominic’s body.
Metzker-Madsen had reportedly lived in foster care at the home for about three years. Dominic had reportedly lived at the home for less than a month.
Metzker-Madsen was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Because of his age and the nature of the charge, he’ll be charged as an adult. Court records showed he was appointed a public defender. He was held in lieu of $500,000 bond.
