It’s hard to believe but the Quad Cities has not had a trace of rain since August 7th. The drought is undeniably putting pressure on crops and the livelihood of many local farmers. After looking at the latest forecast models the chance of rain is pretty grim for the week ahead. I only see a slight chance of showers and storms next weekend. Fortunately one of the long range models that “forecasts” for the next 15 days does have a chance for rain. Unfortunately the reliability of those models is very slim.

The longest the Moline airport has ever gone without rain was 52 days back in 1952. I don’t see us reaching those extremes but it’s eye opening to see that we’re even having these conversations.
